In short Yes, you can also use a traditional gas water heater as well.

However…..

They are not designed for that so the tank will break down faster than they normally would, and the manufacturing companies know this, so using a standard water heater will void it’’s original manufactures warranty.

Your better bet would be going with a real storage stank. SuperStor is a high quality brand that comes in two versions, glass lined, and stainless steal lined. The glass lines storage tank will last for about 10 – 15 years, it’ cost isn’t the lowest but the Superstor storage tank is probably the best for your money, based on a quality/ price point. The Stainless steal lined tank from Supersor is regarded as the industry leader for indirect storage tanks. They come with a life time warranty, however like anything else, you must pay for quality. The stainless steal tanks go for around 1,100 – 1,300 dollars. Boch, Lochinvar, Mega store, and Rudd all offer high quality indirect storage tanks as well and are similarly priced.

Electric water heaters weren’t designed to handle water over 140 degrees, and older boilers may add water as hot as 180 into the tank, so it’s a good idea to add a thermostatic mixing valve to the supply side of the tank. It’s the only effective way to protect a thermostatic mixing valve.

Look no further. Unless you like wasting time.

Why?

We buy a many of them every month, we pay our bills on time, and have key personal relationships with the owners of a large plumbing supply company and Rheem product representatives. This website has opened some amazing doors which has led us to getting our Rheem water heaters lower than any plumbing company in Connecticut and that’s a fact.

It’s that simple. We get them lower than anyone else. Period.
We”re talking about the best water heaters (Rheem Gaudian Fury- Gas and Electric Tank Type Water Heaters), and we’re talking about prices that are less than 90% of all the water heaters at home depot, lowes, and sears water heaters.

When you call us, you get the best water heater on the market for the lowest prices in the North East.

For the End of Summer promotion we are installing Rheem water heaters for $750 – $850. Everything included for normal installations- tank provided, old tank removed disposed.

$750 for most installations,

around $850 for more challenging installation scenarios.

Call us today for more details. Toll Free- 800-524-4280 Direct 203-556-6449

While you are here take a look at our past installations, find out about upgrading to a tankless water heater, and much much more all from within this site, or by calling us and setting up an appointment for a free estimate.

Best regards. Jay, Bruce, and the entire waterheatinginfo team.

Mike Homes is an incredible general contractor in Canada. Some might say he is the best in the business, and even Hollywood has made him a star with his own award winning show about contracting “the right way”.

For those of you that don’t know, Mike Holmes is dead set on “doing the job right the first time”. In his show on the HG TV network he saves home owners from contracting disasters. All of his clients/ featured home owners on the show are victims of shotty workman ship, and Mike Holmes and his crew of primer trades men come to save the day.

Home owners like you are being taking advantage of every day by un licensed contractors, or licensed contractors that don’t take pride in there work, take short cuts, or simply don’t know what they are doing and shouldn’t even be licensed.

When selecting a plumbing contractor and any contractor for that matter you must do your home work. Just because a guy calls himself a plumber and has a business card that unfortunately doesn’t mean the guy has any clue what he is doing. Anyone can print up a business card and call themselves what ever they want. Also many people are illegally using other peoples licenses for a fee, or plain just stealing the license number and printing it on there own cards. Crazy yes, but very true.

I personally know a guy that owns a “plumbing company” that has zero experience in plumbing, he was an insurance adjuster, but wanted to own his own business so he printed some cards, paid a retired plumber a monthly fee to use his license number bought a couple used vans, and got an ad in the yellow pages and he was on his way. Now I don’t expect his company to last long but it’s been a year and he is still in business, ripping off customers on a daily basis.

When you meet a contractor do yourself a big favor and Google Search the name on the card. Then the company name. Good or bad you should find something. Hopefully a website with great pictures of the work they have done, and comments from real people they have performed the work for. If you can’t find anything of substance. Move on. Would a successful contractor not have a website? They should, in the age of the internet even if they don’t you certainly will still find some comments on a website, or message board some where.

For example. Our in house plumber for Connecticut Bruce Somers has been a licensed plumber for 25 years. He is “old school” no yellow page ads, spends no money on traditional advertisement /marketing. However if you Google search -Bruce Somers Plumbing- you will see an incredible amount of info online. It’s 2010 that’s the way it is. If you can’t find any information about a contractor your thinking about using think again, he or she is a “part time” contractor as best.

If you have a serious plumbing problem and need the best plumber in the business you need to talk to Bruce Somers, of Bruce Somers plumbing. It’s that simple so give us a call and Bruce will be over to solve your hard to solve plumbing problems. He has watched every episode of Mike Holmes a few times and emulates his approach which is getting things done correct the first time with no short cuts.

800-524-4280

Fully licensed and insured.

Don’t get ripped off! If you need a quality plumber in Connecticut, Mass, New York, New Jersey, RI, give us a call and put your worries behind you.

Best regards from the Waterheatinginfo.com team.

We are one of the very best plumbing companies in the business of installing tankless water heaters. For the simple fact that we install 2 – 3 a week, every single week. By installing so many of them we are usually able to install one, and remove the old tank within one day. We also get better prices that 95% of all the plumbers/ plumbing companies in our area because of the volume of units we purchase. By getting the units at lower prices, and installing them quickly, and being able to over come all if any obstacles we are able to offer prices that are regularly 500 – 1,000 lower than other local plumbing companies prices we “compete” with.

Please take a look at some of our past Navien tankless installations.

Price match guarantee.

We have never had to use it once yet, but we proudly offer a price match on any other licensed/ insured plumbing companies “realistic” written quote on the same tankless water heater, and installation.

We love Navien for many reasons, but also have access to many other brands of tankless water heaters, and are happy to install a brand other than Navien. However we will not install a low quality unit, (for example anything from home depot) because we won’t take the chance of having any call backs. We won’t risk our reputation on installing low quality products. We also don’t normally install electric tankless water heaters for a few reasons we can talk about over the phone.

If your looking for a company that stands behind it’s work, gets roof and chimney leaks repaired the first time, and has over twenty years of experience with slate and copper there is only one company to call.

Pat Tarantino

Pat Tarantino. He is one of the “chosen few” contractors we work with, due to the fact that his work quality is second to none. He is like us in, we will only do the job correctly the first time, without short cuts. No excuses, No surprises. Pat is not the cheapest roofer in Connecticut, so please don’t waste his, or your own time if you’re “looking for a great deal on this kind of work” Their simply is no such thing, rock bottom prices = cut rate workmanship. The prices on materials are very expensive no matter whom does the job. Custom copper work, and slate roofs are not for unskilled labors to attempt. (unless you don’t mind a few leaks showing up in a year or two after the job is completely) They should by only left to true professionals like Pat Tarantino if you want the repair or installation to last the test of time. In my humble opinion he is THE only person to contact if you need a repair or replacement of a Slate roof or any kind of custom copper work/ slate roofs/ high end copper weather proofing systems.

If you have had 2 or 3 other roofing companies “try” to fix your roof or chimney leak, and the water still is finding it’s way in during a rain storm. There is only one roofer to call. The best roofer in Connecticut.

Call Pat Tarantino for the best “high-end” roofer in CT (203)-710-9816

It’s almost sad that 80+ percent of Pat’s business is fixing other “roofers” mistakes, but there are tons of hackers out there today that call themselves roofers. Home owners to are also to blame. Trying to save money leads to the wrong choice on what company to trust with the most important repair you will ever need to make on your home. If you have a tar, asphalt, or your a slum lord looking for a cheep fix. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR PATS. Pat is only interesting in working for clients that want the best and are willing to pay for the quality workmanship.

We provide top quality installations, and repairs on all slate & copper roofs throughout the state of Connecticut including Fairfield,CT- Hamden,CT- Orange,CT- Milford,CT- New Haven,CT- Stamford,CT - Southport,CT- Westport,CT

When their is no drain located on the bottom of your water, or it’s so jammed up with junk and the water won’t come out their is a couple ways you can still drain the heater.

To top drain/ or top draining is a term in the plumbing trade, specifically during a water heater replacement. The water heater needs to be drained during the replacement process, and in some old water heaters, and in areas with hard water problems it is common for the water heater’s factory drain to be severely clogged up with dirt and sediment which can not be cleared. To top drain a water heater, or top draining a water heater is way to by pass this problem, by draining a water heater from the top.

(This process is only necessary when the bottom factory drain is clogged, and can not be power flushed.) Top draining a water heater takes longer than any other normal process so it would be your last resort in order to drain it. .

Power flushing a water heater simply means; you have a hose attached to the bottom drain, and then open the water valve that fills the water heater. The pressure from the city, or your well will provide enough pressure to force the “junk” out. However this doesn’t always work, and when it doesn’t top draining the tank is pretty much all you can do.

The administration didn’t provide immediate details, but said it would work with Congress on crafting legislation. Steve Nadel, director at the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy, who’s helping write the bill, said a home owner could receive up to $12,000 in rebates.

The proposal is part of the President’s larger spending plan, which also includes money for small businesses, renewable energy manufacturing, and infrastructure.

We know energy efficiency “creates jobs, saves money for families, and reduces the pollution that threatens our environment,” Obama said. “With additional resources, in areas like advanced manufacturing of wind turbines and solar panels, for instance, we can help turn good ideas into good private-sector jobs.”

The program contains two parts: money for home owners for efficiency projects, and money for companies in the renewable energy and efficiency space.

The plan will likely create a new program where private contractors conduct home energy audits, buy the necessary gear and install it, according to a staffer on the Senate Energy Committee and Nadel at the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy.

Big-ticket items like air conditioners, heating systems, washing machines, refrigerators, windows and insulation would likely be covered, Nadel said.

Consumers might be eligible for a 50% rebate on both the price of the equipment and the installation, up to $12,000, said Nadel. So far, there is no income restriction on who is eligible. That would mean a household could spend as much as $24,000 on upgrades and get half back.

Homes that take full advantage of the program could see their energy bills drop as much as 20%, he said. The program is expected to cost in the $10 billion range.

It’s not clear how the home efficiency plan would be administered – the government may issue rebates to consumers directly, homeowners might get a tax credit, or the program could be run via state agencies.

If consumers have to spend a lot of money up front to get the credit, it could throw a wrench in the works, David Kreutzer, an energy analyst at the Heritage Foundation, told CNN.

“This will not be something that’s attractive to people who are having trouble already making their budget payments month to month or week to week,” he said.

To keep consumers from having to spend thousands of dollars before getting reimbursed, Nadel said, one idea is to have contractors or big box retailers pay part of the cost up front.

Fraud issues could also come up, Kreutzer said.

“Any program that is going to run through a third party and is going to distribute billions of dollars needs to have lots of checks and balances to make sure there’s not abuse,” he said.

Nadel noted that as a way to guard against fraud, contractors would have to be certified to participate.

Energy company boost

Obama’s new spending plan also calls for renewable energy companies to get additional support. That could come in the form of loan guarantees – basically, money the government uses to secure loans for startups.

In the original stimulus bill passed earlier this year, $6 billion was earmarked for such loan guarantees. But then lawmakers took away $2 billion to fund Cash for Clunkers – the popular program that paid people to turn in their old cars.

The $4 billion from the original bill has funded about $40 billion in loans, said the staffer on the Senate Energy Committee. Meanwhile, firms are hoping for another $4 billion in loan guarantees, since they have another $40 billion worth of projects that need funding.

A bill on energy efficiency reimbursements already has supporters in the Senate.

“Not only will [such legislation] increase our energy security and transform our energy infrastructure to a modern, clean and efficient one,” Senate Energy Committee Chairman Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M., wrote in a recent op-ed column in the Hill, a Capitol Hill newspaper. “But it also will position the United States to lead in the development of clean energy technologies.”

Whether you like the idea of the federal government spending huge sums of money or not, if they pass the bill they will spend the money. If this does goes threw it’s a great time to upgrade your old energy sucking water heater to a new tankless or solar heating system. With a 50% federal credit the return on your investment is basically instantaneous. Lets stay tuned..

The tank goes for about $1,750.00 retail at your local plumbing supply store.
You should call your local supply store that carries Rheem and ask . Like all water heaters/ tanks etc we can almost always find them less expensive than your typical plumbing store, however shipping costs could significantly hamper the savings as this tank is very large and heavy – expensive to ship.

Here’s a great picture of what the Rheem Solar Aide HE looks like installed.

Pictured above is a picture of a car that travels 12,000 mile per year at 22 miles per gallon.
We also have a 50 gallon electric water that’s electrically heating 90 gallons of water a day.

In this comparison the water heater uses slightly more energy, but this is only on 90 gallons being used per day. Average water usage for families in America is 94,000 gallon of water a year. Which breaks down to about 250 gallons of water per day. Half of which at least would most likely be hot water. With this additional information you can see that your old tank style hot water heater could easily be using more energy than your family car is.

note: This picture is a couple years old, and it’s from CA which has the most expensive energy in America, however we are based in Connecitcut which has the 2nd or 3rd highest energy prices in the country over all as of 2008 so this picture is very relative for our area as well.
