It’s all about the money.
Lowest water heating fuels.
1. The sun is the cheapest by far. (solar water heaters)
2. Geothermal heating would be the 2nd most effective, (however the most expensive start up costs.)  10+k
3. Natural gas is the best. (tankless heaters are best)
4. propane is third  (tankless heaters)
5. electric hybrid (heat pump heaters)

Before I get into the savings you can and will experience by switching your heating/ water heating fuel type from oil to anything else lets talk about why your oil bills are as high as it is in the first place.  It’s not just rising prices of the oil itself, although that is certainly a problem and the unstable nature of the oil global and domestic markets can push the prices past the “affordable” level, and natural disasters, political turmoil in oil producing countries, and the looming cap and trade tax will be to blame.
It’s also the efficiency of your current/ old fashion/ out dated water heating system.  Oil fired water heaters, and tankless coils produce large amounts of hot water for the home, however they consume a significant to huge amounts of oil in the process.   Most homes builders that built homes 50 or more years ago just stuck the biggest water heating system they could fit in the basement.   Back then oil prices were relatively low, there was no such person as a “heat loss expert”, so efficiency wasn’t a thought.  Not to mention there weren’t to many choices available for people that depended on oil to heat there water, other than solar systems that were regarded as new and unproven at that time there wasn’t much a home owner could do but fill the tank and burn away.

Natural gas however is a bit different.  And we as Americans benefit greatly.

Within our boarders it’s been estimated that there are 2,587 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of technically recoverable natural gas in the United States.   At our current usage rates we have over 100 years worth of natural gas for our usage.  This leads us to the lowest fuel prices available for us in America.   Large supply, low prices.

Why is my oil bill so high?   In the winter months your oil bill will be the highest because there isn’t all that much oil in our nations supply.  We pay more for oil than we ever had.  Oil companies spend big money to find, harvest, refine, and transport the oil.  Not to mention there profits are higher than they have ever been.  Maybe a little corporate greed?  Not as much available?  To expensive to produce?    Whatever the true reasons are domestic natural gas is much less across the board in all of these areas.
We must adapt to the treads!   Would you go to work without your cell phone?  Would you go about your daily life with a cell phone that has poor service?  Would you give a cell phone company your hard earned money if your service and prices for it changed every year?    Probably not.   News people you can free yourself from the oil madness with the help of a good plumber.

Your water heating expenses are in your control!   With the help of some good plumbers like us. We  can help you cut your water heating expenses in half or more.  This isn’t a guarantee for every home, but it’s NO exaggeration.  Some homeowners thing that upgrading to a highly efficient tankless water heater such as the Navien heaters we enjoy installing, or  new  Rheem solar water heating system are extremely expensive, and out of their price range/ don’t have the money to make the purchase/investment.   As far as the initial costs of the new system and the labor to have it installed it is something you have to do and may be a bit painful initially.  However if you crunch the numbers, you’ll find that isn’t the case for many families.  Many of our clients can expect to save thousands of dollars a year with the proper system installed correctly, and with the 30% Federal rebates, state rebates, gas company rebates, and figuring the amount of savings it can be.   If you broke even within the 1st year would you do it???

If you didn’t know the average American household spends 23-28% of this energy expenses on heating the water you use for your daily comfortable life,  and in some cases we have helped our clients cut that number by more than half.
