I’ve have written about tankless water heaters many times in the past. How they work, how they save you money, what you can expect to pay, shown you a few pictures, and much more. This is an installation “walk through” with pictures.

Home owner pricing info: Our price was about a thousand dollars higher than the other 2 closest estimates our client received. However we were installing two (2) Navien tankless water heaters which truly will provide endless hot water, where as every other company was just installing one which may not have met demand of this large and growing family. The home owner wanted to “go green”, and also wanted to increase the living space in his small basement. A tankless water heater is the only way to go for accomplishing both needs. By removing the power vent water heater, and installing wall hung tankless water heaters we gained much needed floor space for our clients. This job wasn’t easy by any means, having two units means we had to pull a full 1.25″ gas line from the gas service meter to the installation are for the 2 units. The venting as you can probably tell from the pictures we a bit time consuming. Also working in tight places makes the installation longer just for the simple fact that one guy is always getting in the other guys way, but we work well as a team, and the installation speaks for it’s self.

We removed/ relocated the furnace vent pipes so the cover could be removed easier.
one unit requires a 3/4 inch gas line, we installed a 1-1/4" line from the meter right to the 2 units.
The gas pipe passed inspection, and is tied into the meter.
Our new pipe cutting tool makes black pipe the way to go, (again)
Gas lines are brought to the each unit.
Fresh air intake, and exhaust lines piped out of the basement.

With the old huge power vented tank heater gone, there is about 35 square feet freed up for other use.
