When we 1st got to the job the gas piping did not look like this. They had a flexible gas pipe for the unit, and it tapping into the supply further (away from the meter) down the line. That was bad for 2 reasons. 1. flexible lines reduce gas flow, and if are used should be greatly increased in size for a tankless installation. 2. Tankless water heaters are very efficient but use a large volume of gas when operating, so it needs to be very close to the gas meter to get the volume it needs!
